But it does seem that either baseball just isn't as popular as we'd like to believe, and/or the NY-Penn league has left the Oneontas, Genevas, Watertowns and Elmiras behind.  The good news is that there is the NY Collegiate Baseball League that would probably love to be in Oneonta.  Elmira, Geneva and Watertown do pretty well in the league today.");document.write("      </p>");

document.write("      <p>");document.write("Yes, it's sad that there are less fans at the ballgames this year (and really the past few), people are doing less and less because people don't have money to do stuff. Sure, it's $6 to get in, but figure a family of 3 or 4. That's $18-$24 to walk in, but heck, if you have kids, they'll want food and stuff to, so the cost goes up. I was batboy for the Oneonta Yankees before they moved to Staten Island and I saw that there were more people at the free nights than the pay nights even in the 90's. We used to have a box seat, but dropped it and had to stop going because we couldn't afford it. Would I have loved to go and get my bobbleheads? Knowing Sam all of my life, hell yes. But I haven't money to go. I'll lucky to have $5 in my pocket by my next paycheck after buying food for the 2 weeks (I get paid biweekly) and gas just to get to and from work (30 miles away because it was the only job I was qualified to get and could find last year), then paying my other bills. People have priorities, and unfortunately baseball isn't top. Do I fear we will lose the team, Heck yea. I've been afraid we'll lose pro ball since the Yankees became the Tigers. But at the same time, the economy is taking it's toll. Sorry PJ, but the whole 'Shame on you Oneonta' line just pisses me off. Being someone who used to go to every single game until I was 17 years old, I've paid my dues. There's no shame in saving money and prioritizing our money elsewhere.");document.write("      </p>");

People do not have alot of money in this area and 6 dollars each for a family can add up to alot, especially after you figure in snacks for the kids.  Free nights were alway a big draw for the field so maybe going back to the business sponsored free nights  or half price nights could also help.");document.write("      </p>");
