I grew up going to camp. It was a sort of home for me and holds a lot of meaning for me. However, my primary excitement for attending the camp now is the excitement of seeing someone turn their life over to Christ. Camp has always been a place where God has met with His people and lives have been forever changed. I don't ever want to see that stop.

Selfishly I am thankful for the opportunity to attend camp this year and be able to be renewed myself. But to see someone get saved there at the altar this year was a reminder that God still works and is still present at West Chazy Camp. It IS about the lost and it IS about Christ first and foremost. I hope that the camp grows so that many more people will be able to experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ in their own lives for years to come.");document.write("
");

My husband, David and I lived on the campground for 14 years with our 4 children. We have trees planted on the grounds for each of our grandchildren. The camp has always held a special place in our hearts. Although we lived right on the grounds, my children couldn't wait to 'go to camp'. They would have their bags packed weeks in advance in preparation to moving into the dorms and renewing friendships. Once a year, we would have a week to gather with friends, exchange news, show pictures, talk about our lives.

My spiritual life was enriched and blossomed during our 14 years there. It became that 'home' to the pastors' children because no matter where their parents' pastoral charge took them, West Chazy was the familiar, predictable place they knew; where each summer they renewed relationships that lasted decades.

Hundreds of pastors and parishioners bear witness to have experienced life changing decisions on the grounds of the church camp, our family included. No one can estimate how much better their lives, as well as the lives of others, have been because of those good decisions.

Those who believe in the awesomeness of prayer have seen what power the corporate prayers of hundreds can accomplish, all that spiritual energy focused on specific matters of the heart and soul... Wow!!

Tomorrow, we will once again begin our journey back to West Chazy from here in the sunny south. My Parents still live there to this day.
I remember spending time along with my brothers, sometimes helping out, cleaning up the grounds, in the spring. Also remember Visiting Rev. Chapman, who was the grounds keeper. and Mrs. Chapman, who worked at my High School, were great mentors as well.
I remember the bell on the tabernacle, being rung early each morning, right outside my bedroom window, calling all the camp members to mourning worship.
I do remember when the original tabernacle, roof, fell in during the winter, many years ago, unable to no longer hold all the heavy snow.
I met many others my age, and some of them were wonderful friends for many years, and remeber some who would cross our yard, taking a walk down to the corner store.
